Net-Workers have completed work on the new e-commerce website for Festive Lights Ltd, the UK's premier Christmas lighting and decorations retailer and wholesaler.
Festive Lights is a division of Charnock Enterprises who also own the Disklok brand, producers of the World's most effective full cover steering-wheel security lock for motor vehicles.
Over the past few years Festive Lights Ltd has been expanding its business to become one of the UK's largest retailer of Christmas lights and decorations. The premises comprise of 4,000sqft of lighting displays in an extensive showroom open to both trade and the public. Many of the products available are exclusive and unavailable from any other supplier.
The website is completely content managed from the main information pages, through to the products and categories, and it includes a full e-commerce system enabling credit card details to be taken in complete safety. Almost every element of the site is dynamic, however the majority of pages are published to become straightforward tableless, css styled xhtml. Net-Workers took the decision to implement this system in order to relieve stress on the webserver, and increase the speed of the site even during its busiest periods. The previous festive-lights.com site had to cope with large volumes of seasonal traffic, the build up to Christmas obviously being an immensely busy period and lots of concurrent visitors. Without the need to query the database on every page the site should stand up to the Christmas period and prove a faster and more enjoyable experience for all visitors.
